Summary: The Board of Trustees previously approved, and the District has undertaken the facilities project known as the Liberty High School Project, which consists of the construction of a new high school facility. During its June 19, 2019 meeting, the Board of Trustees ratified the contract with Pierre Landscape, Inc., in the amount of $953,221, for all services related to landscaping to include irrigation, grading and grounds preparation, booster pump installation, turf and landscape installation, trees and shrubs plantings and other tasks related to general site landscaping. services related to landscaping and related tasks to include the development and implementation of the required Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP). During the construction of Liberty High School, it was determined that changes were needed in order to meet project construction timelines and campus construction design. These changes resulted in Change orders #40-003, #40-004, and #40-005. Change Order #40-003 includes landscape planting along with irrigation revisions and overtime/time extension costs in the amount of $77,193. Change Order #40-004 includes changes to the baseball field pitchers' warm-up mounds, which were changed to better utilize the design of the baseball field at a cost of $9,452. Finally, Change Order #40-005 includes the procurement and installation of 40 additional recycled irrigation signs and posts, which were required by the Eastern Municipal Water District to comply with state recycled irrigation guidelines. The combined cost of these change orders is $101,113.

This is being brought before the Board as ratification due to the need to mitigate further schedule impacts related to completing the construction of Liberty High School.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through Various Facilities Funds, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees Change Orders #40-003, #40-004, and #40-005 for Bid Category 40 - Pierre Landscape, Incorporated for the Liberty High School Project.
