Summary: On June 15, 2022, the Charter Board approved a Tentative Agreement between the California Military Institute (Charter) and the California Military Institute Teachers Association (CMITA) to increase the previously agreed upon salary increase from two (2%) to six and fifty-six one-hundredths percent (6.56%) for all certificated employees effective July 1, 2022. That Agreement included contingency language stating, “The Charter and CMITA agree to reopen negotiations on compensation and benefits for 2022-23 if the Department of Finance statutory COLA with any augmentation or deficit as included in the final enacted state budget is greater than six and one-half percent (6.5%).” The Department of Finance statutory COLA was 6.56%, which exceeded the agreed-upon threshold and triggered further negotiations.

Through the negotiations process, the Charter and CMITA agreed to an ongoing six and forty-four one-hundredths percent (6.44%) to be applied to all salary schedules, effective January 1, 2023. This would be a total compounded salary increase of thirteen and forty-two one-hundredths percent (13.42%) for 2022-23. Additionally, all unit members will receive a one-time off-schedule bonus payment of $4,000 on their November pay warrant.

Further details of the Agreement are provided in the attached document.
