Summary: The Board of Trustees previously approved, and the District has undertaken the facilities project known as the Liberty High School Aquatic Complex Project, which consists of the construction of a new 33 meter pool and associated aquatic complex. On January 20, 2021, the Board of Trustees awarded the contract to Fischer Plumbing, Inc. in the amount of $463,800, for all related plumbing scope of work required in the construction of the Liberty Aquatic Facility. During construction, it was discovered that work was needed to install additional roof drains at the B3 Building. These drains were necessary to provide adequate drainage on the roof of the building. Additional drainage was necessary due to a change in the “as built” condition of the roof. The cost of these additional drains was $66,395.66. Also, roof vents and a utility shaft were added to vent the water heaters in the D Building (gym). The vents and the additional utility shaft were omitted from the plans and were added to meet plumbing code. These two items have been combined in Change Order #18-012 for a cost of $81,445.60.

This is being brought before the Board as ratification due to the need to mitigate schedule impacts to the Liberty High School Aquatic Complex Project.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Various Facilities Funds, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify Change Order #18-012 for Bid Category 18 - Fischer Plumbing, Incorporated for the Liberty High School Aquatic Complex Project.
