Summary: The Perris Union High School District requests approval from the Board of Trustees to contract with Temecula Creek Inn for the 2023 PUHSD Administrative Leadership Professional Development. The Temecula Creek Inn will host the Perris Union High School District in the Olive Ballroom and Patio, providing breakout spaces in Sage Meeting Room 1, Sage Meeting Room 2, and the Quarry Room with catering services for breakfast, lunch, and afternoon refreshments. This three-day professional development will include certificated and classified administrators and managers, site administrative teams, confidential administrative assistants, and student service provider site teams. This summit will work to develop and implement District goals for the 2023-24 school year that includes Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Education. The sessions will deepen the understanding of collaborative dialogue and action aligned to equity in student education and wellness. This professional development event will allow for the preparation and planning of strategic processes and address critical next steps to further implementation of student services that address systemic issues by becoming more aware of issues that affect our students and community, such as poverty, ethnicity, gender, and more. Each session will build on previous training and strategies provided. The District would like to build capacity among administration and site leadership in creating effective schools to address learning loss due to systemic issues. When done, the goal is that administrators and educators within the organization will embrace high levels of learning for all students, which increases student learning outcomes. The training includes specific strategies to facilitate collaborative conversations around student equity, student diversity, student inclusion, and student learning, building and implementing procedures to support the development of academic and social-emotional interventions for students. The professional development summit will be held from July 18, 2023, through July 20, 2023, for an estimated cost of $42,857.51.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 operating budgets funded through Local Control and Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds and Title II Funds, not the General Fund.
