Summary: California Military Institute's Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator Luis Valdovinos, requests approval for AVID's Annual Northern California College trip for its junior class members. CMI will take junior students to five (5) college/university campuses over the three (3) day trip. The list of colleges programmed to attend is as follows: UC Merced, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and UC Santa Barbara. Thirty-five (35) students and five (5) adult chaperones will be transported by charter bus.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2024-25 operating budget funded through the Charter Local Control and Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the Charter General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the overnight field trip request for California Military Institute Advancement Via Individual Determination students to visit Northern California college campuses, February 12-14, 2025.
