Summary: The District would like to contract with Nearpod to provide Unlimited Premium Plus Platform access for all teachers and students across the District. Nearpod will also provide six (6) 2-hour online professional learning sessions for up to two hundred (200) participants at Perris Union High School District.

Nearpod is an interactive platform that assists teachers in making any lesson interactive in the classroom or virtually. The platform allows teachers to create interactive presentations that can contain quizzes, polls, videos, collaborative boards, and more. Educators can access thousands of pre-built standards-aligned lessons or upload their existing lessons and make them interactive. Students will be able to access a teacher’s presentation through a code, and the teacher will be able to move the class through the presentation and let students interact with the media as they go. Teachers can also opt for student-paced mode, where students can control the flow of the lesson. The app is web-based and works on any device with an internet connection.

The customizable nature of the platform means that it can be applied to any grade range and teaching context. It provides real-time formative assessments and session reports and helps to build a connected culture in and outside of the classroom. Teachers will know where every student is in their learning and will be able to adapt instruction in real-time with in-the-moment feedback. By utilizing formative assessments, teachers will be able to gain insights into student learning, build authentic connections for students through checkpoints and activities focusing on social and emotional well-being, and address learning loss by using reports to inform the next day’s instruction.

The term of this Agreement shall be from August 2, 2021, through August 1, 2022.

This item is being brought forward as ratification due to the untimely review of the contract as summer school, and CDPH guidance updates took precedence.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through Various COVID Funds, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify the Agreement with Nearpod to provide unlimited teacher and student access to the Nearpod Premium Plus Platform.
