Summary: Robert Brough, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, requests the Board of Trustees' approval for him and Dr. Casaundra McNair, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Julie Zierold, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, ASPIRE District Counselors Cheri Adame, Christopher Tinajero, Betty Tran, and select certificated and/or classified employees to attend the 2023 College Board Conference, A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education, March 7 - 11, 2023, in Chicago, Illinois at the Chicago Marriott Downtown.

This year, the College Board is looking forward to gathering with educational professionals and advocates in person in 2023. The College Board A Dream Deferred™ conference welcomes education professionals working to make a difference for African American students.

The conference focuses on college readiness for African American students. It provides a forum for sharing best practices, key data, and research to drive measurable actions and ensure opportunity access. The mission of A Dream Deferred is to provide a platform for educators to present strategies that address the unique educational and cultural needs of this important group of students.
Funding: This item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Local Control and Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the out-of-state conference request for Robert Brough, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Casaundra McNair, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Julie Zierold, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, ASPIRE District Counselors Cheri Adame, Christopher Tinajero, Betty Tran, and select certificated and/or classified employees to attend the 2023 College Board Conference, A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education, March 7 - 11, 2023, in Chicago, Illinois.
