Summary: Perris High School's JROTC Instructor, LTC John Kirkland, requests approval for thirty-five (35) Perris High School JROTC cadets to participate in the Annual JROTC Cadet Advance Leadership Challenge Camp in Fort Irwin, California, on April 13-17, 2023. This encampment aims to allow JROTC students to master outdoor skills and learn leadership in small group settings, curriculum-related training in small group settings, and curriculum-related training that would qualify cadets for ribbons and awards. Thirty-five (35) cadets and four (4) PHS chaperones will participate in this annual leadership camp. The United States Army Cadet Command will provide students with free lodging, transportation, and meals. Accommodation will be in military-style barracks, and transportation will be via contracted civilian buses.
Funding: No fiscal impact.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the overnight field trip request for Perris High School's JROTC cadets to attend the Annual Army JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp in Fort Irwin, California, April 13 - April 17, 2024.
