Subject: 5.2 BUSINESS: Approval of Health and Welfare Benefit Increase for California Military Institute Classified Employees

Summary: On April 23, 2021, the California Military Institute (CMI) and the California Military Institute Teacher Association (CMITA) reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) on health and welfare benefits covering a three-year period beginning July 1, 2021.  Based on that Agreement, the administration is recommending approval of the same health and welfare benefits for the California Military Institute classified employees as follows:

- Effective July 1, 2021, the cap for single coverage will increase by $75, and the cap for two-party and family coverage will increase by $225.  As a result, the Anthem cap for single coverage will become $9,675, the cap for two-party coverage will become $17,375, and the cap for family coverage will become $16,375.  The Kaiser cap for single coverage will become $9,675, the cap for two-party coverage will become $15,175, and the cap for family coverage will become $14,175.

- Effective July 1, 2022, the cap for single coverage will increase by $350, and the cap for two-party and family coverage will increase by $800.  As a result, the Anthem cap for single coverage will become $10,025, the cap for two-party coverage will become $18,175, and the cap for family coverage will become $17,175.  The Kaiser cap for single coverage will become $10,025, the cap for two-party coverage will become $15,975, and the cap for family coverage will become $14,975.

- Effective July 1, 2023, the cap for single coverage will increase by $350, and the cap for two-party and family coverage will increase by $800.  As a result, the Anthem cap for single coverage will become $10,375, the cap for two-party coverage will become $18,975, and the cap for family coverage will become $17,975.  The Kaiser cap for single coverage will become $10,375, the cap for two-party coverage will become $16,775, and the cap for family coverage will become $15,775.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2021-22 budget and multi-year projections.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the increase to health and welfare contributions for California Military Institute Classified Employees.
