Agreement with County of Riverside _Sheriff_22-23.pdf
Summary: Full-time School Resource Officers (SROs) have been in place at all four (4) comprehensive high schools since July 1, 2022. This Agreement covers SROs for Perris High School and Liberty High School within the jurisdiction of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. For the 2022-23 school year, the District was responsible for fifty percent (50%) of each SRO, with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department covering fifty percent (50%) of the Liberty High School SRO and the City of Perris covering fifty percent (50%) of the Perris High School SRO. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has informed the District that they will no longer be covering their portion of the Liberty High School SRO; therefore, if the District desires to keep that SRO, it will need to cover the full cost as included within this Agreement. The subsequent agenda item is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the District and the City of Perris for their portion of the Perris High School SRO. The term of this Agreement is for one (1) year, expiring June 30, 2024. Successive Agreements will be brought forward on an annual basis. The cost of the services provided under this Agreement is $275,000. The City of Perris will be responsible for $68,750, bringing the District obligation to $206,250.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2023-24 operating budget.
