Summary:
|
The California Military Institute (CMI) contracts with Hemet Unified School District (HUSD) for transportation services. Hemet Transportation provides home-to-school transportation for CMI students residing in Moreno Valley and Riverside and athletic/extracurricular transportation and late activity buses as needed. The Charter would like to continue the services of HUSD for the purpose of providing comprehensive student bus transportation.
The proposed Agreement will cover the 5-year term of July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2028, with the option to terminate at the end of any fiscal year by providing notification by December 31 of any fiscal year.
For 2023-24, the base contract amount, reflective of home-to-school transportation services, is $432,876. The 2023-24 rate for athletic and activity trips will be $95 per hour, and the rate for after-school late buses will be $259 per bus per day. Beginning with 2024-25, the Agreement reflects a 3% annual cost increase.
Government Code Section 6500 allows public agencies to jointly exercise any power common to them by agreement without having to form a separate Joint Powers Agency.
