Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has made recommendations for updates in our district-wide course catalog. When a course is discovered to be outdated or lack sufficient information, then a request is sent to the teacher(s) to update the course. At this time we are submitting revised Academic English courses.

Educational Services is submitting revisions for the following courses; Academic English 1, Academic English 2, Academic English 3 and Academic English 4. All courses meet UC-CSU A-G requirements.

These Designated ELD courses are designed for 9th - 12th Grade English Learners at the Emerging/ Bridging Level. Students in these courses are challenged to increase their English skills in more contexts and learn a greater variety of vocabulary and linguistic structures, applying their growing language skills in more sophisticated ways that are appropriate to their grade and ELD proficiency level. These Designated ELD courses are a companion program to the ELA curriculum for grades 9-12, Pearson My Perspectives.

The above courses have been approved by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services.
