Summary: As provided for in the State Budget Act, Governor Newsom has provided funds to assist the California Military Institute (CMI) and its programs. The California Military Department (CMD) will provide at no cost to CMI or the District CMD full-time staff to include an Officer in Charge/Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (OIC/NCOIC) as the Senior Level CMD school representative. The CMD CMI OIC/NCOIC will allocate CMD personnel in accordance with CMD position descriptions. The OIC/NCOIC shall report directly to the Commandant/Principal of CMI for Operational Control (OPCON), which involves the daily activities at the school. The assigned CMD personnel is responsible for providing CMI with a military environment and training program that will:

1) Develop leadership traits in students
2) Emphasize teamwork by students
3) Foster student physical fitness
4) Reinforce life skills and promote the likelihood of future success
5) Instill self-discipline in students

This Agreement shall be for five (5) years, from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2027.

The Agreement is being brought before the Board as ratification due to the untimely receipt of the new Agreement from the California Military Department.
Funding: The budget will be adjusted to reflect this revenue.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees ratify the Multi-Year Cooperative Agreement by and between the California Military Department, Perris Union High School District, and the California Military Institute.
