Subject: 14.6 PERSONNEL: Revised Work Days for Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist Positions
Strategic Plan:
Enclosure
File Attachment:
Summary: Based on growing student needs and a lack of consistent and available staff, the District created the Occupational Therapist (OT) and Physical Therapist (PT) positions to serve students within the regular school year better and eliminate the need to contact these services to outside vendors. To better meet the OT/PT needs of students both during the regular school year and in the extended school year (ESY), staff recommends increasing the work year for the Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists from 203 days inclusive of vacation to 215 days inclusive of vacation effective July 1, 2023. In addition to meeting the needs of the students, the increased work year will also ensure that Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists earn a full year of service credit through the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2023-24 operating budget.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the revised work days for the Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist positions as presented.
