Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has recommended updates to our district-wide course catalog. At this time, we are submitting new Career Technical Education(CTE) courses in the Media Arts Pathway 111 titled RCOE Intermediate Media Arts and RCOE Advanced Work Based Learning. These courses are pending meeting the A-G requirement of "G." The RCOE Intermediate Media Arts course offers a broad range of subject mastery in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry sector. As a result, students will experience various learning activities such as graphic design, film, audio, podcasting, and website design. In addition to multimedia topics, students will be exposed to entrepreneurial concepts that will help each consider opportunities to create their own post-secondary options. The RCOE Advanced Work-Based Learning (WBL) course is an exploratory course with an internship element that allows students to experience and evaluate their post-secondary options. Students will learn workplace acquisition and retention subjects while gaining sought-after soft/professional skills such as communication, leadership and management, and ethics. The internship will allow students to experience industry settings and expectations while extending the learning from the classroom. The internship element will be a minimum of 25 hours. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services have approved the above courses.
