Summary: The Mathematics in a PLC at Work® Summit is led by nationally known mathematics thought leaders and researchers. The Summit supports expectations for a highly effective preK–12 mathematics program. Participants will explore research-affirmed daily instructional routines for engaging students in mathematical tasks aligned to their essential unit-by-unit design, planning, and action standards. Specific Tier 1 and Tier 2 mathematics intervention routines that erase inequities in student learning and accurately measure and promote student proficiency in the essential standards for each grade level or course are provided. Participants will also learn how to write high-quality common formative unit assessments and decide on the next steps for the collaborative work and actions of their preK–12 grade-level or course-based teams at this inspiring Mathematics in a PLC at Work Summit. Learn how to apply the four critical questions of a PLC at Work to improve mathematics unit-by-unit planning for students engaged in Tier 1 instruction and intervention during the lesson. Use collaborative team discussion tools and protocols to examine grade-level progressions of essential standards. Learn about the proper use of higher-level cognitive-demand tasks through an effective formative feedback implementation of small-group student discourse. Identify high-quality unit-by-unit common formative mathematics assessment criteria and learn how to write and use those common assessments as part of Tier 2 just-in-time student intervention routines. Participate in daily teacher actions that significantly increase learning by developing student self-efficacy, perseverance, and proficiency. Participate in a network of new mathematics colleagues and acquire ideas for promising practices during role-alike sessions. Discover how to become a highly effective, relationally intelligent member of an effective and collaborative mathematics team.
