Summary:

Mr. Andrew Ellis, Liberty High School Mathematics Teacher, and Boys Basketball Coach requests approval from the Board of Trustees to travel with ten (10) student-athletes to Riverside, California, for an overnight field trip to attend California Baptist University's 2022 High School Team Camp, June 4-5, 2022. CBU is a private university in Riverside, California, ranked the 34th college in the Western Region. Besides being a stellar academic university, CBU's Men's Basketball Team has finished in the top 5 of their conference in the past few years, despite only being in NCAA's Division I for four years. This year the LHS Boys Basketball Team is requesting to attend CBU's High School Team Camp, which includes a tour of the university, the experience of a Division I campus, and participation in four (4) basketball games inside the college arena. This field trip consists of two (2) days and one (1) night in the city of Riverside, California. Ten (10) student-athletes would stay on campus in the dormitories. This is a fantastic opportunity for our student-athletes to experience a college atmosphere both as students and athletes and spark their interest in pursuing higher education after high school. It is also an excellent way for our student-athletes to observe how college players balance academics and athletics in a higher learning environment.
This is an overnight field trip with ten (10) student-athletes and two (2) adult chaperones. Transportation will be provided via bus. The estimated cost is $50 per person. All expenses will be paid from the Boys Basketball Associated Student Body fund.
