Summary:

Heritage High School’s (HHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator, Amanda Bates, is planning the annual Northern California college trip for HHS AVID Seniors. The dates of the trip are November 7-11, 2022. Approximately forty-four (44) students and four (4) adult chaperones will be visiting fourteen (14) college campuses over the five (5) day, four (4) night trip. The list of colleges/universities is as follows: Fresno State University, UC Merced, Sacramento State University, UC Davis, Chico State University, Sonoma State University, San Francisco State University, UC Berkeley, San Jose State University, Stanford University, UC Santa Cruz, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and UC Santa Barbara.
The purpose of the trip is to introduce different campuses to students. Some schools in Northern California offer diverse educational opportunities. Heritage High School AVID students are more willing to leave home when they have already visited the campus. Our District has a significant representation of former AVID students on many north-place campuses. This trip is essential to building the college and career culture at HHS.

The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through the Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
