Perris High School's Agriculture advisor, Chelsye Deboor, requests Board approval for the Perris High School's Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the UC Davis Field Day in Davis, California, March 3-4, 2023.
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will hold its 47th Annual Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Field Day on Friday, March 2nd (Parliamentary Procedure & Job Interview), and Saturday, March 3rd (all other contests), 2023. FFA and 4-H students are invited to compete in 21 agriculturally based judging contests, ranging from livestock judging to farm business management. UC Davis students from a variety of majors coordinate the contests. Faculty, staff, and local community members volunteer to make this event possible.
Participants include four (4) students and one (1) adult chaperone. This event will be held on the UC Davis campus in Davis, California. The UC Davis event is one of the two largest state-level California Department of Education (CDE) FFA events of the year. The top teams will compete at this event to prepare for the May state finals competition. Students will be exposed to this top agricultural university while learning more about their contests and competing at the highest level in the state. Students will be exposed to the university atmosphere, which will help motivate them to work hard toward their goals for their future careers. Students will develop hands-on leadership skills by interacting with other students, judges, and teachers at their competition sites.

The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Perris High School's Carl D. Perkins Grant Fund, not the General Fund.
