Summary:

Perris High School’s agriculture teacher, Douglas Cousins, is requesting Board approval for the Perris High School (PHS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the California State FFA State Judging Finals that will be held at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California, May 5-8, 2022. Sixteen (16) students and three (3) adult chaperones that will be attending the FFA State Finals.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is the host to over 20 different FFA Career Development Events at the end of each school year that challenges students in the areas of their interest. Students compete for state titles during this contest. The contests that HHS will be competing in are: Ornamental Horticulture judging; Vegetable Crop judging; the Best Informed Green Hand contest; Farm Records; Livestock judging; and, Veterinary Science judging.
This event will be the culmination of a year of hard work competing throughout Southern California at numerous events against other FFA Chapters. In the event that Heritage High School FFA wins the State Championship, they would then be eligible to go onto the National FFA Convention.
Transportation to San Luis Obispo will be provided by using the District and site vehicles. Approximate total cost including hotel room, meals, and registration is approximately $100 per student and adult.

The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through Perris High School's Future Farmers of America Associated Student Body Account and the Perkins Grant, not the General Fund.
