Perris High School's Agriculture advisor, Douglas Cousins, is requesting Board approval for the Perris High School's Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the UC Davis Field Day in Davis, California, March 4-6, 2022.
The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will be holding its 46th Annual Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Field Day on Friday, March 4th (Parliamentary Procedure & Job Interview), and Saturday, March 5th (all other contests), 2022. FFA and 4-H students are invited to compete in 21 agriculturally based judging contests, ranging from livestock judging to farm business management. UC Davis students from a variety of majors coordinate the contests. Faculty, staff, and local community members volunteer to make this event possible.
Participants include twenty (20) students and three (3) adult chaperones. This event will be held on the UC Davis campus in Davis, California. The UC Davis event is one of the two largest state-level California Department of Education (CDE) FFA events of the year. The top teams will be competing at this event in preparation for the state finals competition in May. Students will be exposed to this top agricultural university while learning more about their contests and competing at the highest level in the state. Students will be exposed to the university atmosphere, which will help motivate them to work hard towards their goals for their future careers. Students will develop hands-on leadership skills as they interact with other students, judges, and teachers at their competition sites. Cost per student/adult is $50 each.

The cost for this item is included in the Perris High School 2021-22 operating budget funded through Perris High School's Agriculture Incentive Grant/Perkins Fund, not the General Fund.
