At this time we are submitting two (2) new Career Technical Education (CTE) courses in Leadership titled Leadership Development and Advanced Leadership Development. These two (2) courses do not meet the UC/CSU A-G requirements.

Leadership Development is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of the knowledge and skills to be an effective leader. It explores leadership theory with applications for leading organizations and creating positive social change. An emphasis is on personal and organizational goal setting, leadership development, decision-making strategies, team building, the acquisition of organizational ethics, conflict management, and supporting the mission and vision of the organization. This course analyzes different aspects of leadership and theories of everyday leadership practices, with an emphasis on creating positive social change.

Advanced Leadership Development focuses on advanced topics in leadership and the application to the personal lives, and careers in education, private or public sector organizations. Topics will include, conflict resolutions, meditation skills, talents and strengths, power and influence, diversity, leadership roles, ethics and leading teams. Students will develop and implement a plan to apply new skills and knowledge to an organization they belong to. This course is designed to provide solid leadership training needed to be an effective leader. The emphasis is on skills, talents, trust, mediation, and engaging teams.
