Summary:

Heritage High School's Agriculture teacher Maggie Maratsos is requesting Board approval for the Heritage High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the California State FFA Career Technical Education finals that will be held at Cal Poly University, in San Luis Obispo, California, May 6-8, 2022.
This field day is open to junior high and high school FFA students from around California. These students come to San Luis Obispo to compete in twenty-one (21) different agriculturally-based judging contests, ranging from livestock judging to computer applications. Modesto Junior College students coordinate the contests. Faculty and staff at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, serve as advisors.
By going on this trip, students will be able to compete at a high level in their FFA judging teams; this contest is the final and highest-ranking contest offered for California members. FFA will also make a few stops along the way to learn about the agriculture that is present on California's fertile central coast. This will help HHS's FFA students gain a fuller and broader perspective on just how important agriculture is to the economy of California.
This is an overnight field trip with nine (9) students and one (1) adult chaperone. Transportation will be provided via District/Site agriculture vehicles. The estimated cost is $190 per person. All expenses will be paid from the Perkins Grant and Associated Student Body fund.

The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through Heritage High School's Future Farmers of America Associated Student Body Fund and the Perkins Grant, not the General Fund.
