Behavior Support Specialist - Draft.pdf
Summary: In October 2022, the District staff presented the Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services Plan (CCEIS) to the Board of Trustees. The plan's purpose was to address the District's identified disproportionately/significant disproportionality as determined by the California Department of Education. The CCEIS included two measurable outcomes with numerous strategic activities designed to mitigate significant disproportionality of general education students and students with special needs. To this end, the CCEIS included the addition of a Behavior Support Specialist to provide behavior analysis and health consultations to individuals diagnosed with developmental delay issues, disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders. This position will assist in developing Behavior Intervention Plans that address students' inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to help the students become more academically successful. The position will be classified as an unrepresentative position with a salary range of $97,652 to $123,238, salary schedule #264, row 1, working a total of 196 days per school year. This position will be under the direction of Educational Services and/or designated Director.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2023-24 operating budget funded through the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the new job description of Behavioral Support Specialist and authorize to recruit.
