Summary: DawnSignPress offers the Signing Naturally Interactive Online Student Materials (SNIOSM) software license that includes Deaf culture aspects, grammar, and vocabulary and provides students with the skills needed to begin conversing with the Deaf. There is a Learning Management System (Canvas LMS) integration that would eliminate the need for physical student workbooks, as videos and assignments created by a variety of signers allow students to be exposed to multiple ways of signing, thus creating a group of well-rounded signers.  PUHSD American Sign Language teachers will utilize the platform as their primary curriculum for daily instruction and assessments. The term of this Agreement shall be for three (3) years from August 17, 2023, through June 30, 2026, for a total contract cost of $32,300 for the three years.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2023-24 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the Software License Agreement with DawnSignPress for the Signing Naturally Interactive Online Student Materials software license.
