Summary:
|
Perris High School’s Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator Melanie Yates, requests approval for the Perris High School AVID Southern California college trip for AVID Junior and Seniors. The dates are March 20-22, 2024. Approximately fifty (50) students and five (5) adult chaperones will visit nine college campuses in and around the Los Angeles area. The purpose of the trip is to visit campuses in the Los Angeles area, and by staying overnight, there is less time wasted with traffic. The colleges they plan to visit are Cal Poly Pomona, University of Southern California, Pomona College, CSU Channel Islands, UC Santa Barbara, Pepperdine University, Cal State University Northridge, Whittier College, and University of LaVerne. This trip will enable visits to multiple colleges daily and allow the students to take in the campus and culture meaningfully. This trip is essential to building the college and career culture at Perris High School.
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus, and lodging will be at hotels located in Southern California.

The cost for this item is included in the 2023-24 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
