Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has recommended updates in our district-wide course catalog. When a course is discovered to be out of date or curriculum programs have made changes, the department team is requested to work together to bring the course of study current. The JROTC instructors revised these courses to align with the current military standards to best support our students. These courses are pending to meet the UC/CSU requirement of "G."

The U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) is a program offered to high schools that teaches students character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership, and diversity. The mission of JROTC is to motivate young people to become better citizens. JROTC also prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of the benefits of citizenship. The JROTC curriculum is based upon a systematic progression of learning. The scope, focus, and content of instruction are each sequential and independent. The leadership unit of instruction allows for one of many training opportunities for students to exercise a student chain of command. Fourth-year students act on guidance from the Senior Army Instructor or Army Instructor to plan, prepare, and execute training to prepare for assigned tasks and train younger students. Third-year students learn instructional techniques and more advanced styles of leadership. First and second-year students receive education and training. Training is designed to enhance the student's skills, knowledge, and abilities and reinforce instruction in leadership theory.
