Summary: The Murrieta Valley Unified School District conducted a Request for Proposal (RFP) cooperatively with other districts, including the Perris Union High School District, for the purchase of fresh and processed produce for the National School Lunch Program, Seamless Summer Program, and the School Breakfast Program for the 2024-25 school year. The RFP closed on April 2, 2024, and was awarded to Gold Star Foods at the Murrieta Valley Unified School District Board meeting on April 18, 2024. The term of this Agreement shall be from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, at an estimated cost of $100,000 based on the estimated quantities for the prices listed on the bid. This Agreement may be renewed for up to two (2) additional one (1) year terms upon mutual written Agreement for a maximum of three (3) years, in accordance with Education Code Section 81644.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2024-25 operating budget funded through Nutrition Services, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the award of RFP# 2023-2024-15NS to Gold Star Foods for fresh and processed produce.
