Perris High School's Agriculture advisor, Douglas Cousins, is requesting Board approval for the Perris High School's Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend Merced College's FFA Field Day in Merced, California, March 11-12, 2022.
Merced College Agriculture Division hosts an annual FFA Field Day where competitors from High Schools all over the state take part in contests and judging in various agricultural areas. Examples of contest categories include: Ag. Mechanics, Ag. Pest Control, Best Informed Greenhand, Farm Power, Job Interview, Land Judging, Livestock Judging, Milk Quality & Dairy Foods, Small Engines, and Vegetable Crop Judging.
Participants include eight (8) students and two (2) adult chaperones. This event will be held on the Merced College campus, in Merced, California. Top teams will be competing at this event in preparation for the state finals competition in May. Students will be learning about contests and competing at the highest level in the state. Students will be motivated to work hard towards their goals for their future careers and will develop hands-on leadership skills as they interact with others students, judges, and teachers at their competition sites. Cost per student/adult is $40 each.
