Agreement with County of Riverside _Sheriff_22-23 .pdf
Summary: The Perris Union High School District, City of Perris and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department have agreed to share the cost for School Resource Officers (SROs) beginning July 1, 2022. A full-time SRO will be assigned to Perris High School and a second full-time SRO will be assigned to Liberty High School. The District will be responsible for fifty percent (50%) of each SRO. The City of Perris has agreed to cover fifty percent (50%) of the Perris High School SRO and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has agreed to cover the fifty percent (50%) of the Liberty High School SRO.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Perris Station, has selected the Perris High School SRO who will be officially assigned beginning April 25, 2022. They are working to identify and assign an SRO for Liberty High School to be in place for the 2022-23 school year. The costs for SRO services at Perris High School prior to July 1, 2022 will be the responsibility of the District.

The term of this agreement is for one (1) year, expiring June 30, 2023. Successive agreements will be brought forward on an annual basis. This agreement covers a total of 1.5 FTE SROs which reflects what the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department will invoice the District. The District will in turn invoice the City of Perris for their portion of the Perris High School SRO. The City of Perris approved the cost sharing at their City Council meeting on February 22, 2022. This will be memorialized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the District and City before June 30, 2022. After reimbursement from the City of Perris, the overall cost to the District for 2022-23 will be $183,333.
Funding: The cost for this item will be included in the 2022-23 budget and multi-year projections.
