Summary:
|
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, California Schools are facing a severe substitute shortage. In accordance with the provisions of Education Code 44252(b) and Title 5, 80021.1, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing approved to waive the California Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST) for 30-day substitute teaching permits for those individuals who have a Bachelor's Degree but have not taken and passed the CBEST. By approving this Variable Term Waiver, the district would recruit substitute teachers and/or district classified employees who have not had the opportunity to take and/or pass the CBEST. Therefore, the District is requesting approval of the application for the Variable Term Waiver for the 30-day Substitute Basic Skills Requirement.
