Summary: Dian Martin, Director of Learning Support Services, respectfully requests the Board of Trustees' approval to attend and travel to Charlotte, North Carolina, with Sonia Rezkalah, Community Engagement Specialist and Learning Support Services Community Liaisons, to attend the 2022 National Family Engagement Summit, October 12-15, 2022.

Successful Innovations, Inc. and the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement are hosting this exclusive family & community engagement conference to support educators, administrators, parent coordinators, and family-facing practitioners. This impactful event will assist our classified family and community engagement employees in supporting our PUHSD goals for equitable family engagement throughout our district, meeting our Local Control and Accountability Plan's goal four objectives.

In addition to gaining strategies to promote equitable family engagement practices, learning how to build the capacity to support collaborative family and school partnerships, assessing the effectiveness of the family engagement efforts in our district, and discovering family engagement practices that lead to maximum learning advances for students, this conference will allow our Learning Support Services Department the opportunity to network with hundreds of attendees from around the nation and collaborate on best practices and ideas for school transformation and students' and families' success.
Funding: This item is funded through the 2022-23 operating budget of the Learning Control and Accountability Plan, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the Out-of-State Conference Request for Dian Martin, Director of Learning Support Services; Sonia Rezkalah, Community Engagement Specialist; and Learning Support Services Community Liaisons Marisol Gonzalez; Maria Cruz-Smith; Azucena Navarette; Itzenia Castro; and Teresa Gonzalez to attend the 2022 National Family Engagement Summit in Charlotte, North Carolina, October 12-15, 2022.
