Summary:
|
Sandra Arguello, Paloma Valley High School teacher, requests approval from the Board of Trustees approval to attend the 2024 International SeaPerch Challenge at the University of Maryland with three (3) robotics students and two (2) Chaperones. The International SeaPerch Challenge is an invitation-only event open to teams that excel at registered regional competitions and earn a slot to compete in the season’s culminating event. Teams show off their engineering skills on land through technical papers and presentations. In the pool, they navigate their SeaPerch through a series of obstacles inspired by the real world that test maneuverability, control, and utility. Each season has a new theme and a new set of competition tasks, challenging teams to expand on their original vehicle design. Beyond the friendly rivalry, all competitions bring students together from different schools, states, and countries to form a supportive community. Students will arrive and have time to test their gear and make any final modifications. While the rules have outlined possible obstacles, each event site will have its unique course. The team with the fastest time wins. Students have also been invited to a baseball game with other RoboNation competitors on May 12th. This should ease some jitters and encourage collaboration. If time permits, students may visit the local museums, which are free of charge.
