H_SS Text Book Evaluation (Responses) - Google Drive.pdf
Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has made recommendations for our district-wide course catalog updates. With the implementation of California Common Core State Standards (CA CCSS), the curriculum must align with these standards. Over the last two years, we evaluated the High School Social Science textbooks. This will be followed by revising the Social Science courses to align with the new textbooks.

During the 2019-20 school year through the current 2021-22 school year, the Social Science department spent the second semester of 2019-20, some of 2020-21, and the first semester of 2021-22 piloting two publishers to narrow down their choice for adoption. Starting the 2019-20 school year, the teachers began piloting either Pearson, which is now Savvas, and McGraw Hill publications.

The schools involved in the pilot were Perris High School, Heritage High School, Paloma Valley High School, Liberty High School, Perris Lake High School, and the California Military Institute in World History, US History, Economics, and American Government. During the pilot, social science teachers were provided textbooks and online resources for the courses.

All Social Science teachers were invited to participate in the evaluation process, and their responses were compiled to make the final decision. Listed below are the names of the textbooks that the Social Science Department has piloted:
