Summary:
|
Liberty High School’s (LHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator, Diana Pales, is in the process of planning the LHS AVID Southern California college trip for AVID Sophomore and Junior students. The dates are March 27-28, 2023. Approximately forty-eight (48) students and four (4) adult certificated chaperones will visit about seven (7) college campuses in and around the Los Angeles area.
The purpose of the trip is to visit campuses in the Los Angeles area, and staying overnight means less time wasted with traffic. The colleges they plan to visit are Cal Poly Pomona, the University of Southern California, the University of California Los Angeles, Pepperdine University, Cal State University Long Beach, and the University of California Irvine. This trip will enable visits to three colleges daily and allow the students to take in the campus and culture meaningfully. This trip motivates the students to keep up their grades and stay in the AVID program and is essential to building the college-going culture at Liberty High School.
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus, and lodging is TBD.

The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
