Summary:

Myshia LeBoss, Teacher and Cheer Coach at Paloma Valley High School, is respectfully submitting a request to the Board for approval for Paloma Valley High School's Sideline Cheer Team to attend the USA Cheer and Dance Camp at Great Wolf Lodge in Garden Grove, California, July 19-22, 2021.
USA Spirit offers a comprehensive summer camp curriculum that prepares athletes for their season from the sidelines to the competition floor and everything in between. At USA camp, athletes will connect their role on campus, in the community, and when they take the floor for competition. All athletes will finish camp as certified Spiritleaders through the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) by participating in classes that reinforce the five roles of a Spirit Leader: Athlete, Ambassador, Crowd Leader, Entertainer, and Spirit Raiser.
Parents will transport approximately sixty-three (63) student cheerleaders and song leaders to and from Great Wolf Lodge. Students will be accompanied by one (1) certificated staff member, Myshia LeBoss, three (3) District cleared coaches, Mary Valencia, Lindsay Alfano, and Jerimese Daniel. All students will have completed physical/medical clearances and signed parent permission forms. The final list of students will be submitted to the PVHS Athletic Director, Ryan Sharp, by June 29, 2021.
The total cost for the students to attend the camp and competition will not exceed $35,035.00. This item is being brought to the Board of Trustees as ratification due to California COVID restrictions and waiting on the organization's approval of in-person camp participation after the June board deadline.

The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through Paloma Valley High School's Sideline Cheer Team Associated Student Body Account and Student Fundraising, not the General Fund.
