Summary: At their regularly scheduled board meeting on September 18, 2024, the Board of Trustees of the Perris Union High School District and Dr. Jose Luis Araux entered into a Superintendent Employment Agreement, effective August 21, 2024. The Service Year within that agreement indicates the Superintendent shall render twelve (12) months of full and regular service to the District during each annual period covered by the agreement. However, the agreement did not specify the applicable work days to be utilized when calculating twelve (12) months of service. To correct this omission, the attached Amendment to Superintendent Employment Agreement is presented for the Board of Trustees's consideration and approval. To accurately identify the applicable work days, Section 10, SERVICE YEAR would be amended to state: The Superintendent shall be a full-time, exempt employee and shall render twelve (12) months of full and regular service to the District during each annual period covered by this Agreement. For the purposes of this Employment Agreement, twelve (12) months of service shall be defined as two hundred twenty (220) full and regular service days, not including vacation days or holidays. These two hundred twenty (220) days shall serve as the denominator for calculating per diem for salary adjustments for any partial year of service commencing after July 1 or concluding before June 30 of a given year, as well as for any vacation pay that is cashed out upon the conclusion of employment. All other terms of the agreement approved on September 18, 2024 remain unchanged and in full effect.
