Summary:
|
Paloma Valley High School’s (HHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator, Justin Marquis, requests Board approval for the PVHS AVID Southern California college trip for AVID Junior and Seniors. The dates are February 16-17, 2023. Approximately forty-four (44) students and four (4) adult certificated chaperones will visit about seven college campuses in and around the Los Angeles area. The purpose of the trip is to visit campuses in the Los Angeles area, and by staying overnight, there is less time wasted with traffic. The colleges they plan to visit are Cal Poly Pomona, University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, CSU Long Beach, Vanguard University, Chapman University, and CSU Fullerton. This trip will enable visits to multiple colleges daily and allow the students to take in the campus and culture meaningfully. This trip is essential to building the college and career culture at Paloma Valley High School.
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus, and lodging will be at a hotel in Huntington Beach, California.

The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
