Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has made recommendations for a physical Education course in our district-wide course catalog. When a course is discovered to be needed, outdated, or lacks sufficient information, a request is sent to the teacher(s) to create or update the course. At this time, we are submitting a revised Physical Education course titled Physical Fitness 9.

This course is a revised course of Physical Education 9. The revisions were made to meet the California State Standards for High School Physical Education. The eight components of physical fitness that will be addressed in this course are Effects of physical activity on dynamic health, the mechanics of body movement, aquatics, gymnastics and tumbling, individual and dual sports, rhythms and dance, team sports, and combative. This course incorporates concepts necessary for a lifetime of physical fitness and health. Through a variety of classroom instruction and physical activities, this course emphasizes the development of skills and knowledge of fitness, self-image, personal growth, and social well-being. Students will regularly participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity. This course does not meet the A-G requirements.
