Summary: California Military Institute Instructors Lorraine Turner, Robert Guzman, and Lisa Tarpley request ratification approval of their attendance for the out-of-state conference at the 2022 National Science Teaching Association's Conference on Science Education in Houston, Texas from March 31 - April 2, 2022.

The NSTA conference offered these instructors the unique opportunity to collaborate with science education leaders and their peers this year. Each year, NSTA hosts a national conference on science education (in the spring), three area conferences (in the fall), and a STEM Forum & Expo.

The exhilarating Spring Conference gave these instructors three days of innovation, inspiration, and connection to collaborate and develop professional teaching strategies to support CMI's LCAP Goal #1. From engaging presentations focused on 3-D teaching and learning, sense-making, equity, and assessment, to lively exhibitor workshops and specially-developed Texas sessions to a vibrant Exhibit Hall featuring the latest science teaching tools, materials, and technologies available. The NSTA Houston 2022 Conference provided Ms. Turner, Mr. Guzman, and Ms. Tarpley with the best professional learning experience to support them in their professional teaching fields.

This item is coming to the Board of Trustees as ratification due to a clerical error in Educational Services.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through the Local Control and Accountability Plan Supplemental Concentration Fund, not the General Fund.
