Summary:

Myshia LeBoss, Teacher and Sideline Dance and Song Coach at Paloma Valley High School, is respectfully submitting a request to the Board for approval for Paloma Valley High School's Sideline Cheer Team to attend the USA Cheer and Dance Camp at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center in Pomona, California from July 22-25, 2022.
USA Spirit offers a comprehensive summer camp curriculum that prepares athletes for their season from the sidelines to the competition floor and everything in between. At the USA camp, athletes will make the connection between their role on campus and in the community and when they take the floor for competition. All athletes will finish camp as certified spirit leaders through the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) by participating in classes that reinforce the five roles of a spirit leader: Athlete, Ambassador, Crowd Leader, Entertainer, and Spirit Raiser.
Approximately seventy (70) students and three (3) adult chaperones will be attending the four (4) days, three (3) night camp. The total cost for the students to participate in the competition will not exceed $38,000.00. Transportation for students will be provided by their parents. The price for the camp is approximately $515 per student and includes room and board. The District will clear all adult chaperones, and a final list of students will be submitted to the Paloma Valley High School Athletic Director no later than June 1, 2022.

The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through Paloma Valley High School's Sideline Dance and Song Team Associated Student Body Fund and student fundraising, not the General Fund.
