Summary:
|
Heritage High School’s agriculture teacher, Maggie Maratsos, is requesting Board approval for the Heritage High School (PHS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) students to attend the California State FFA State Judging Finals that will be held at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California, May 5-7, 2023. Sixteen (16) students and two (2) adult chaperones will attend the FFA State Finals.
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo hosts over 20 different FFA Career Development Events at the end of each school year that challenge students in the areas of their interest. Students compete for state titles during this contest. The contests that HHS will compete in are Ornamental Horticulture judging; Vegetable Crop judging; the Best Informed Green Hand contest; Farm Records; Livestock judging; and Veterinary Science judging.
This event will culminate a year of hard work competing throughout Southern California at numerous events against other FFA Chapters. If Heritage High School FFA wins the State Championship, they will attend the National FFA Convention.
Transportation to San Luis Obispo will be provided using the District and site vehicles.

The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Perris High School's Future Farmers of America Associated Student Body Fund and the Perkins Grant, not the General Fund.
