Summary:
|
LTC John D. Kirkland, JROTC Senior Army Instructor at Perris High School (PHS), requests approval for fourteen (14) cadets and five (5) chaperones to travel to Fort Knox, Kentucky, November 1 - November 5, 2023, for the JROTC Army National Raider Competition.
Raider Competitions are athletic competitions held at JROTC programs around the world. Events occur outdoors and usually consist of individual strength tests (pushups, tire-drag, obstacle course, etc.), distance team running events, first aid events, and some form of Rope Bridge construction/crossing. Individual events may vary. The championship event takes place at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
This competition aims to allow high school JROTC students to master outdoor skills and learn leadership in a competitive team setting. The United States Army Cadet Command will provide lodging and transportation to the students at no cost.

The cost for this item is included in the 2023-24 operating budget funded through Title 1 Funds, not the General Fund.

It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the overnight out-of-state field trip request for Perris High School's JROTC cadets and chaperones to attend the Raider National Competition in Fort Knox, Kentucky, November 1-5, 2023.
