Summary:
|
During this time of remote learning, we have become acutely aware of the mental health toll that the pandemic has had on our students. In our view, the requirement to administer a high stakes statewide assessment at nearly the very moment that students are finally able to return to the school setting would just exacerbate the stress they have felt during these challenging months. Our district understands the importance of monitoring the progress of our students, and reporting data to parents and key stakeholders. However, in our view the local assessments used for English Language Arts and Mathematics are valid, reliable and will in fact provide a greater opportunity to engage and support our students as we focus on learning recovery and begin the path back to normalcy.
