Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has recommended updates in our district-wide course catalog. When a course is discovered to be out of date or curriculum programs have made changes, the department team is requested to work together to bring the course of study current. Special Education instructors created this course to align with the current NGSS and the new curriculum that was adopted to best support our students. This course does not meet the UC/CSU requirements.

Environmental Science provides students with the scientific principles, concepts, and
methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, identify and analyze environmental problems, both natural and human-made, evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and examine alternative solutions for resolving or preventing them.

Environmental science is interdisciplinary, embracing topics from geology, biology, environmental studies, environmental engineering, chemistry, demography, economics, ethics, political science, and geography. This course will be project-based and include strong laboratory and field investigation components. Experiences in the laboratory and the field provide students with opportunities to test concepts and principles introduced in the classroom. In this class, students gain a broad awareness of environmental science and related career opportunities and become better global citizens.
