Summary:
|
The District and CSEA and its Chapter, Perris Valley #469, met on March 18, 2022, to discuss the impacts and effects of Senate Bill 328. The bill was created by legislators to address adolescent sleep deprivation and was signed into law on October 13, 2019, and added to the California Education Code as Section 46148.
The new law requires that the school day for middle schools begin no earlier than 8:00 am, and the school day for high schools begin no earlier than 8:30 am. As a result, the District has adjusted bell schedules for the 2022-23 school year and will also require adjusted start/end times of work shifts for Classified members.
