Summary:
|
Heritage High School’s (HHS) Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator, Amanda Bates, is in the process of planning the HHS AVID Southern California college trip for AVID Sophomores. The dates are March 27-28, 2023. Approximately forty-four (44) students and four (4) adult certificated chaperones will visit about seven (7) college campuses in and around the Los Angeles area.
The purpose of the trip is to visit campuses in the Los Angeles area, and by staying overnight, there is less time wasted with traffic. The colleges they plan to visit are Cal Poly Pomona, University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles, California Lutheran University, California State University Channel Islands, and California State University Long Beach. This trip will enable visits to three colleges daily and allow the students to take in the campus and culture meaningfully. This trip motivates the students to keep up their grades and stay in the AVID program and is an essential part of building the college-going culture at Heritage High School.
Transportation will be provided by a charter bus, and lodging will be at Holiday Inn, Woodland Hills.

The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Local Control Accountability Plan Supplemental and Concentration Funds, not the General Fund.
