Summary: District administration has advocated for more professional development opportunities for our Classified and Confidential staff. As part of the support, Cabinet has maintained that participation and membership within the two organizations that support the educational office professional, Riverside County Association of Educational Office Professionals (RCAEOP) and the California Association of Educational Office Professionals (CAEOP), are opportunities for professional growth and development.

Many of our clerical leaders have also taken on responsibilities and roles in the two organizations (RCAEOP and CAEOP). Both Beth Heyden and Sarah Rico have previously held positions in both organizations. Most recently as Vice President of Publications, by Beth Heyden and Recording Secretary, by Sarah Rico for CAEOP. In addition, Beth is the Southwest Area Council webmaster and social media coordinator, and Sarah is Registration/Hospitality Chairman and the Southwest Area recording secretary for the NAEOP 2022 conference. Along with their duties within the organization, Beth will participate as a conference presenter.

Attending the National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP) annual conference will provide opportunities to participate in a number of General and Breakout sessions and represent the State of California at the Advisory Council and the Southwest Area Business Meeting. It will also allow them to network and learn from other state AEOP officers to gain knowledge and understanding of the policies and procedures used in similar state positions used by others in similar positions across the nation. They will also bring back information to share with District secretaries and the local affiliate members.

The Utah conference was initially approved by the Board for July 2020. However, due to COVID-19 closures, the conference was canceled to be rescheduled at a later date. It is now being brought back and proceeding forward for in-person attendance and participation.

Mrs. Heyden and Mrs. Rico genuinely appreciate the support and investment that District Administration has placed in them and other office professionals within the District.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2021-22 operating budget funded through the General Fund.
