Summary: The District's Educational Services Department has made recommendations for updates in our district-wide course catalog. Previously approved for the California Military Institute, we are now submitting these World Language courses for the rest of the Perris Union High School District: Chinese I (Mandarin), Chinese II, and Chinese III. These courses meet the UC/CSU A-G Requirement "E."

Chinese I (Mandarin) is the beginning level course in the Chinese language. It will cover basic elements of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the Chinese language. The course will introduce basic vocabulary and grammatical structures. The student will gain general knowledge about culture.

This course of studies was first adopted by the Choice 2000 board in 2009 and has increased in popularity. This course is now being considered offered at the California Military Institute.

The Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services has approved the above course.
