Summary: Mr. Andrew Ellis, Liberty High School Mathematics Teacher, and Cross Country Coach requests approval from the Board of Trustees to travel with fourteen (14) student-athletes to Big Bear Lake, California for a specialized running camp at altitude.

There are many proven benefits of altitude training for runners, and this opportunity for Liberty High School's cross country student-athletes will prepare the team for the upcoming cross country season with the demands of racing week in and week out. Team running camps at altitude are a component of nearly all top cross-country programs in the southwest area and surrounding school districts. Aside from the fresh mountain air and amazing benefits of the training environment, it is a great opportunity for LHS's student-athletes to bond and build a deep culture of trust and hard work, pushing them closer to their goal of a league championship and CIF berth.

This is an overnight field trip with fourteen (14) student-athletes and three (3) adult chaperones. Transportation will be provided via bus. The estimated cost is $200 per person. All expenses will be paid from the Cross Country Associated Student Body fund.
Funding: The cost for this item is included in the 2022-23 operating budget funded through Liberty High School's Cross Country Associated Student Body Fund, not the General Fund.
Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the overnight field trip request for Liberty High School's Cross Country Team to Attend a Specialized Running Camp at Altitude in Big Bear, California, July 18 - 21, 2022.
